While it's cool to get caught up in good fun on World-X, we do have limits and regulations to be followed, or suffer the penalties. At most, these are just common sense. Even so, be aware of them and remember them. If you can do this, you will be fine. If they are too much for you (And they shouldn't) Then you just don't have to be here. Let's get on the way.
It may be the internet, but there are still people on the other side of that monitor. Remember that when you flame.
The world is full of people of different races, affiliations and orientations. And we should understand and respect that.
Basically, this reinforces the previous rule. Treat people as you want to be treated. Don't be a bigot. Racism, Gay Bashing and Religious intolerance is not tolerated in the least.
You want to keep the forum open and free, right? Then don't post things that could get us shut down. Warez, Hacks, Keygens, Roms, Child Pornography and Illustrations, Snuff Porn and Illustrations, and finally the advertising and promotion of terrorism and things related to it, such as bomb making and gun running rings. While it is fair to discuss such matters in an intelligent, debatable environment, the actual posting of such content will result in instant banishment.
Drugs and Alcohol related content is debatable and is not banned content as of yet. This may change in the future so be wary of what you posts.
When you post something, be sure to check if you're even allowed to do so first off. It's easy to just take something you saw and post it anywhere, but still be wary of the artist's personal thoughts on the matter. If you are unsure, just post a link to the website and the page it's on.
A worse offense is not just when you take something that isn't yours blatantly, but also claim it to be your own work. There is no merit in doing so and will only make people less likely to trust you. We can be lenient if it's your first time offense. But repeated offenses can and will lead to banishment.
Work hard and make your own art, people will respect you more for it.
A side note on sprites: Most starting spriters begin by editing others work. This rings especially true for Sonic and Mega Man spriters. There is nothing wrong with this, as it is just a gateway to improvement. But like I said before, be wary of the original's artist's opinion on the matter. Sonic Team, Capcom and Nintendo all allow as far as I know the free will to edit their sprites as long as it is not reproduced commercially and for profit aka selling them to a free market. Basically, as long as you use your sprites for private use, like comics and flash movies, it's fine.
Language. Swearing is okay on occasion, but too much is just vulgar. Show some respect and self-restraint, keep it to a minimum. Even when cursing in foreign languages, keep it to a minimum, even when you think no one will understand it. Okay?
We all have respect for your mother language, and we're happy that you express it with us freely. Remember though that this board is primarily English and thus is the language commonly used. When communicating with your fellow members, please speak English.
This is a forum, not a chat room. Take time to spell out your words and use correct punctuation. Nobody has perfect spelling and grammar though so it's expect to be slips.
I just don't want "Hay guyz chack out these ausome pics I found, lol." or "WTF! thats stoopid, u shuld stp doing tat!"
Seriously, noob speak is annoying, so don't do it. People actually want to understand and comprehend what you're saying.
Spamming words, spamming images, spam is spam. When you repeatedly say the same thing over and over again, OR quote the same thing over and over again OR post the same image over and over again unnecessarily, you're spamming. You only need to say it once. Maybe twice if something goes wrong, but that's not needed either thanks to the "EDIT MESSAGE" option in the corner of your posts. Spam also stands for "Stupid, Pointless, Annoying Messages" which means short, one or two word messages or messages that have nothing to do with the current topic is also spam.
Don't spam, simple as that.
You're not a mod, so don't act like one. Reminding one of the rules and reporting rule-breakers to us is acceptable, but imposing yourself on a person like you're the king of the ant hill is not. It's not your job to enforce the board, only to enjoy its features and make friends with its members.. Unless of course, you are an actual mod. then it goes both ways. If something on the board is bothering you, then let us now and we do what we can to remove the problem and improve your experience.
Like I said, these are all common sense things that you would I assume, do around your home everyday. If you can do that, then you certainly won't have a problem here.
If this is too much hassle, then it was nice knowing you and good-bye. For everyone else, please enjoy your time here at World-X and hope to see you again tomorrow.
