I usually don't rant or complain about things that much, but sometimes a guy has to Mostly I don't have anything against the Germans. But what I do hate about them is the fact that they DUB EVERY SINGLE MOVIE, SERIES, ANIME, CARTOON, etc etc. The movie loses most of its meaning and worth that way. Is it really that hard to sub them. I think that way they would hold more money and time and effort. I think that even the Germans themselves would enjoy them more with the subs than with dubs. They use English dubbed or original already so many germans should understand it even without the subs. I already gave an example In the futurama thread about naruto. i know it was the wrong thread there but I was on a roll, so sorry. I also hate their censorship of blood and fighting for instance. They almost never show when someone is killed, at least those movies that i have seen on their channels. they just skip it. and then they show the next scene and most of the info that what happened is lost and sometimes i don't understand what happened and am very confused. Other than that I don't have anything against the germans. Well maybe the fact that they occupied us in the War, but that's history already. Nothing more to say at the moment about this topic. Whooh, that was a long post for me. Yours truly, Rhonoc

Dubbing is most likely the number one cause of failures of anime outside of japan. The dubbers are either underpaid pros who don't like the fact they're voicing cartoons instead of something more serious or fans who's egos are so inflated, they think their sh*t smells good.
For their defense, sometimes the dubs can actually sound better than the original japanese recordings, like for DBZ. (Faulconer's music helped to set the scene as well.)
Overall, it's better and cheaper to just sub-title animes then dubbing them. Cause there are a lot more badly dubbed anime than good.
On the subject of censorship, in that sense, Germany is not much different that America is nowadays. In times ago, America advocated free speech and uncensored materials. Now if you say so much as bomb on a cell phone, even if it's just to say "That was one bomb party last night." They raise the red flag (That's an exaggeration)
Anyways, because of all the sh*t happening in the world, they think that if they show violence or nudity or anything of a "Unsavory" nature, it will cause people to, in their own minds, go crazy or get upset.
It doesn't help the fact that since Adolf Hitler and the incident in Munich that Germany has gotten a bad reputation to many other countries as being violent and racist. And by censoring violence in TV, well, it's their sort of way of trying to and improve their reputation. Not that I blame them. If I rose the guy to power who was the cause of 13 million deaths in in a matter of 10 or so years.
That's just my observation. Because I see a similar trend here in the US, what with the invasion of the middle east and the various massecres by crazed college students and postal workers and unstable kids and army generals....Oh boy.
All I'm saying is that censorship of some things is pointless and unreasonable, especially in the case of art and movies, in which it is a important part of the piece.

I think that sometimes, if they want to make censorship, then they should tone it down or don't show the movie at all, if it has too much violence or nudity.
Another example on an anime. Yesterday I watched Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's on RTL2 (a German channel) They didn't show the attack scenes, which makes the most part of the anime. They skipped some scenes and during those scenes, many other cards were played and the situation drastically changed. I was so confused as to what happened and why it happened. I think if they do those skippings so much, why show the anime at all. Yu-gi-oh is a card game and any idiot would understand that a card attacked another card. To my eyes it wasn't violent at all.

I agree with you 100%, the fighting is one of the best aspects of the series, and it's predecessors.
The cards attacking isn't violent, it's the holographic images, which has the two monsters fighting with guns and swords and all sorts of (sometimes) over the top weapons.
What they need to remember is that this is just a cartoon. And not even a adult cartoon. If they were to censor, say, Elfen Lied, then I can see a very good reason why they would. But with anime like Yu-Gi-Oh, they shouldn't bother.

I agree with you that they should censor Elfen Lied. I've seen it and that is pretty gore. But also because its so gore, it makes up the entire series. So I think they wouldn't bother even to dub or sub it.

it seems so. or they think that people can't read at all? i think a lot goes gone, if you dub the movies or any show for that matter but i guess that they are too stupid to notice that.
